when a marriage dies it's like the people in it died too. it is a death of the self, so you just stand there watching your body on the ground and it takes too long to get it. it takes a long time to accept it, because it's a failure of some sort. it's running a marathon and watching the rest of the runners get to the finish line while you're standing there, out of breath. the nest is empty and so are you.
